Post-operative care such as speech therapy and dental care will also be made available to patients.
“With the success of Trump TowerTM Manila, this is our way of celebrating and giving back to the children of Operation Smile. I am honored to have been instrumental in bringing the Trump brothers to the Philippines, where the first Operation Smile mission traces its roots,” said Mr. Antonio.
The visit was arranged to drum up awareness and call for donations for the charity institution’s 30th Anniversary Journey Home Missions this year, which will conduct massive dental and surgical missions in 10 mission sites all over the Philippines from October to December. The target: provide free reconstructive surgery to 1,500 children with facial deformities and free dental treatments to atleast 3,000 patients.
Mr. Donald Trump Jr., who is a member of the Board of Governors of Operation Smile International, addressed the media and underscored the importance of the MCCC and the OSP missions. “We are here to (help) establish the center, to not say, ‘Well this week we have a team of surgeons and now we’re going to have to turn away people.’ Now we have the ability to treat them and really attack this (cleft) problem head on. Robbie (Antonio) and I; we work very hard, but we don’t have the skills to perform these surgeries. But what we can do is we can try to help raise the money, fund the doctors, nurses and volunteers.”
“It’s a great honor for me to be here today and to be able to unveil this facility. Thank you for the continued partnership. I’d like to make a personal donation of US$ 10,000 (for Operation Smile Philippines) to kick off a couple of extra surgeries and get it started the way it needs to be,” Mr. Donald Trump Jr. added.
